  • "Yoga has empowered me to step into my own greatness, love who I am and trust in the process." I didn't know much about yoga when I attended my first class, just that it was apparently a great way to look after your body and manage stress. After a couple of sessions, I really saw this pattern forming, no matter what was going on in my personal life, I would always feel better after my practice. I could actually feel my body thanking me. For me, this feeling was all new. I had spent most of my life training in gyms, flogging my body, pushing too hard, expecting more reps, quicker times, better performance. I would leave feeling exhausted, only to wake the next day to a sore, stiff body that was just simply screaming for rest, but of course instead of listening, I would demand my body get up and go do it all again. Unfortunately there are many people who can relate to this, we end up in this unsustainable heightened state of fight flight, fueled by adrenaline. Don't get me wrong, I love high intensity training, but feel many of us struggle with the idea of slowing down as we are socialised to believe It's a sign of laziness. In 2006 I was in a very serious car accident. I suffered many injuries, the most significant being spinal fractures. C1 in my neck, L5 in my lower back and my coccyx was completely shattered. At this stage of life my husband and I had 3 daughters, our youngest just 6 months old. The spinal injuries were agonising and caused altered sensation throughout my body and debilitating incontinence of my bladder and bowel. Needless to say life wasn't much fun. Years of rehabilitation therapy and unbearable chronic pain followed. I was a regular visitor of pain clinics and underwent multiple nerve blocks. Out of all the healing modalities I tried, yoga was the one therapy that improved my quality of life. Returning to the profound, yet simple experience of showing up, rolling out my mat, connecting with my breath and listening to my body empowered me with this sense of strength and mental clarity that I had never experienced before. It has been a very long slow path to recovery for me with many high and lows. An exciting physical improvement came when one of the multiple nerve block injections I had been undergoing was successful. This created a pain free period of time for me to really commit to the healing modality of yoga work hard on rebuilding strength and stability. I found the poses to be challenging yet achievable, I was gaining this incredible cardio vascular workout, my spinal movement was improving and emotional content was shifting. I was thrilled. Yoga was bringing joy back into my life, I was happy to wake and get out of bed in mornings because yoga was detoxing and cleansing my system, boosting serotonin and balancing my hormones. I felt calm as the yoga encouraged me to release past grief and trauma that I had previously stuffed deep down in my physical body. Plus my weight, body shape and muscle definition were responding better than ever. I am filled with a genuine love , respect and passion for all things yoga. I create classes that are fun, dynamic and ever evolving. I can not contain the joy I feel when teaching and the positivity I express is contagious. I truly believe it is our duty as human beings to nurture our body mind and spirit daily. Certifications. Level Two Teacher Training. Creature Yoga. • “Do not turn your attention elsewhere in your search for the truth, for it is nowhere else to be found but within your body.” Eckhart Tolle I began my journey toward becoming a yoga teacher as a student of Iyengar yoga. It was here I gained insight into the spiritual truths of yoga. Gaining an awareness of the physical elements of alignment. A door was opened, something was unlocked and I realised I was my own key. I then began martial arts training in Taekwondo, after years of dedication gaining a 3rd Dan Black Belt. I was awarded martial artist of the year, Instructor of the Year and became Regional Instructor, running several schools. "Black belt is not something you get, it is something you become”. – Warrior Spirit. If we consider that martial arts are more than sport, fighting, or self-defense, but instead a philosophy, an art, and a way of living, moving, and being in the world with awareness, embodiment, and precision. In many ways, yogis are already bringing the essence of martial arts to their mats. I returned to my yoga practice with the courage of a warrior, ready to go deeper. I trained to teach. If you know the art of breathing you have the strength, wisdom and courage of ten tigers”. – Chinese adage Drawing on my knowledge of martial arts, Tai Chi and pilates I now create yoga classes that incorporate warrior strength, breath awareness and sensual flowing movement. Encouraging students to come home to their bodies and feel the vibrant life within. 350 hour Level 1 Certification -My Health Yoga.

  • Namaste! I feel very honoured to be teaching and guiding you on your mat in your yoga practice.

A practice I hold so dear. A practice that taught me to connect to my breath, my body and

    ultimately me.

I believe yoga is for everyone, if you can breathe you can do yoga!

In my classes I share my experiences on the mat, my awareness, my truths and struggles. I am

known for a strong class but support all levels with options. I teach you how to find the

comfort in the discomfort, to lean into the tension and use the breath to get out of the

suffering. Acceptance, letting go, non-attachment, mindfulness and self love…these are some of

the attributes of the mind that we use in life. We get to practice and strengthen these on the

    mat.

I honor my teacher Santina Giardina-Chard for the teachings and ability to hold me in the space

and for the introduction to the Ashtanga practice. Initially it was her practice that inspired me

and kept me coming back. I wanted that control, strength and flexibility in my body. However I

started to feel things on my mat……get emotional. I remember thinking what the heck is

happening, I am just doing yoga. It was this awareness, this connection to me that is the greatest

thing I have learnt on my mat. For the first time I was quiet enough to go inward, to find out

what Kate thought, to ask what Kate was feeling and HONOUR that. I am still on that journey

with you and consider that a gift.

I love this practice and I trust it. In the word of B.K.S Iyengar “it would be impossible to

overestimate the gratitude I bear to this subject that saved and uplifted me.”

breath, meditation and philosophy, encouraging his students to deepen their practice, from purely

physical exercise, to embrace an overall yogic lifestyle.

  • Yoga for me started as a form of exercise. I was quickly amazed by how efficiently you can work with your own body and create space, not only in your body, but also your mind while focusing on breath.

That was enough for me to become more curious and go deeper. It was my first teacher training in Rishiskesh, India that changed my life and showed me the path I follow to day. Yoga is a constant reminder to be a better person towards yourself, others and this world. Since India I’ve trained with beautiful teachers in Sydney and Byron Bay and continue to stay curious and forever a student.

In my classes you can expect an energetic flow with a strong focus on the breath, body alignment and a touch of spirituality.

  • I have been practicing yoga now for 12 years but I did not start to practice yoga till I was 55 after retiring from a very stressful position as a Director of Nursing. I started to recognise that with yoga, not only my health & physical appearance improved greatly but my level of happiness as well.

Hoping to share these benefits I became a yoga teacher.

It is never too late to start. As they say “Yoga is not about touching your toes it is about what you learn on the way down”.

Off the mat I love spending time with my family & friends, going to the gym to do weights, cardio workouts and dance as well as surfing & travel.

Come join me on the mat and realise age is not a barrier but an opportunity.

At a time in my life when I felt lost, yoga enabled me to find my way. It showed me the wisdom of my heart and the courage within me. I must I honour my teacher, Carrie-Anne Fields, for showing me how truly beautiful life can be when we navigate from an open heart. I have been teaching now for ten years, yet I don’t so much see myself as a teacher; simply someone who is lucky enough to share my practice and my thoughts with a room full of friends.

My classes focus on breath, slow flow and the restorative powers of yin. My teaching style is gentle, non-judgemental, and steeped in the philosophies of self-compassion and mindfulness. My hope is to support you in finding your own inner peace and radiance.

Yoga has the potential to help you breathe deeper and feel better and I simply cannot wait to share it with you!
